Artist we love: Barbara Low
We’re taking you to Buenos Aires to meet the next artist we love, Barbara Low. Low, has shown in numerous gallery exhibitions in Argentina, and is now emerging in North America. Ariel Mlynazewicz names her “one of the most transcendental painters of her generation.” We can certainly see why.
Low is a powerhouse; her effusive, passionate character emanates from the canvas as she loses herself in the act of painting. She considers all aspects of life in her work, incorporating art history, philosophy, popular culture, and familiar, comforting scenes of daily life around South America. A fauvist, she thoughtfully attends to the human body, emotion, and relationships, emphasizing the spirit through the vibrant, layered, even tactile pigment.
Low truly lives and breathes art. She frequently quotes Henry Miller, who writes, “paint as you like and die happy.”
Amen!
